Clinical Formula

Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic Acid is formed by skin cells and is part of the connective tissue of the skin. One of its key functions is to retain moisture, and it has the ability to bind in between 1,000 and 10,000 times its own weight in water (i.e. one gram binds between one and ten liters). As we age, the skin's natural ability to produce Hyaluronic Acid depletes and wrinkles start to form and deepen.

APG Complex

APG Complex (short for Alkylpolyglucoside) is an extra mild cleanser. The `G` stands for Glucoside, which is a nature-derived surfactant. Surfactants are the active ingredients in cleansers that enable them to clean the skin by lifting and removing impurities. There are several different types of surfactant widely used in skin cleaning products. Anionic (negatively charged) surfactants are often used because of their great foaming properties, but Glucoside (which is non-ionic, with no charge) is proven to be particularly gentle on the skin.

Glyco-glycerol

Being a derivative of the skin’s own humectant glycerol, glyercyl glucosides facilitate epidermal moisturization. Dry, stressed skin shows significant reduced aquaporin channels. These channels control the transport of cellular water and other small solutes between and into cells. Thus, playing an important role in maintaining epidermal water balance. The most abundant aquaporin in the epidermis is aquaporin-3 (AQP3). Glucosylglycerol (Gluco-glycerol) stimulates the expression of AQP3 in epidermal skin cells and has been shown to stimulate the formation of aquaporin 3 (AQP3) in skin cells, thus increasing the number of aquaporins that control water transport in and out of cells.

FAQ

How do I pick the right cleanser for me?

Eucerin DermatoClean Refreshing Cleansing Gel has been formulated for normal to combination skin and for those who like a gel cleanser. You can find information on different skin types including dry skin, sensitive skin and skin prone to blemishes throughout our website, but if you are unsure we recommend that you ask a beautician or pharmacist for face-to-face advice.

Do I really need to cleanse in the morning and evening?

Yes. The sebaceous glands produce sebum overnight, so when you cleanse in the morning, you are removing excess sebum (the oily substance that your skin produces naturally to stop it drying out). At the end of the day you need to remove excess sebum, sweat and any make-up that you may have been wearing. It is scientifically proven that a cleansed skin is better able to breathe. Cleansing your skin also ensures that it is able to absorb the active ingredients in your care products.

Do I need to use toner after cleansing with Eucerin DermatoCLEAN Refreshing Cleansing Gel?

Ideally yes. Eucerin DermatoClean Clarifying Toner is a valuable last step in your cleansing routine and leaves your skin ready to fully absorb the active ingredients in your care product. Eucerin DermatoClean Clarifying Toner helps to remove any remaining cleanser (gel and milk) and make-up. It is alcohol-free and it is gentle on your skin and helps to support skin moisturisation.

    Good light cleanser
I usually buy a creamy quite heavy cleanser believing it to be more effective than gel, water based ones. This one however proved me wrong. I liked the pump action bottle which allowed the product to dispense easily just the right amount. At first I pumped out too much at a time believing that I would need more of a gel product than a creamy one, but I actually needed less. A little went a really long way. It feels really light on my face and cleansed really well. I use it twice a day morning before I put any make up on and night time when I take it off and it works great for both. I have quite sensitive skin so trying something new is always a risk that it will dry my skin out. This is amazing and hasn’t caused any reaction at all. In fact my face has never felt cleaner or softer. I have been using it twice a day for 2 weeks now and still have about half a bottle left so it lasts really well. Would recommend.
